6 Weeks Before We Go
6 weeks until we go on our adventure from Lands End to John O'Groats. Here is an update of where things stand:
Training
I noticed I was a little over stretched last week. I class this as not being over trained (which can be difficult to overcome in a week or two) but if I didn't take a few days off, it could lead to something more problematic. Main reasons I felt this was the case were:
- My power was lower for the same effort.
- I felt less motivated
- My 3 or 4 hr rides were harder to recover from than usual
I have made a few nutrition changes following my 2 day practice last month and I still need up increase food intake. This is one of my biggest challenges - eating enough!
At this stage of events, it is far better to take a few days off than push on. I have so many miles in my legs. Pushing on could have done more damage than it would achieve.
I have a plan for this week to monitor how I feel on and of the bike. I am not concerned though. I have caught it early.
Support Team
We have had a change in my extremely important support team. The team now is:
Mike Brehaut - Driving, Bike Maintenance - and basically, as my husband, anything he is told to do!
Lisa Mahy - Massage, Drinks & Nutrition and medical support (and hopefully keeping me sane)
George Murphy - Bike cleaning, Driving, Tech stuff and anything that involves detail/logistics
Thank you's
I just want to take this opportunity to thank everyone who has donated as this is what the ride is all about. If you have read any of the stories about my cats that I share on Facebook, you will know the importance of the work done by animal rescues and especially the ones we are supporting through this ride.
Special thanks to Brittany Ferries for their support.
Thanks also to George Murphy of Precision Electrical Services for his donation to the charities.
Big thanks also to Guernsey Press and Radio Guernsey for highlighting this ride.
If your business would like to support these great causes, please get in touch.
Charity Links
